Nehru Park in Asansol
The Nehru Park is located in Burnpur of Asansol, in the banks of the mighty river Damodar. The park is renamed as Nehru Park after India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Before it was known as the Lahmeyer Park/ Riverside Park as it was formed by a German general manager of IISCO named F.W.A.Lahmeyer.
But, it was renamed in 1989, which is the birth centenary year of Late Jawaharlal Nehru. There is a life-sized Iron idol of him in the park, welcoming all the visitors at the entrance.

The park was put up on the banks of the River Damodar, maintaining the formerly undulating landscape of the area. A tiny stream runs past through the park. The wavy terrain of the park have been well utilised to build up beautiful gardens and broad walkways on around the spot. There is a musical fountain present in the park that is considered as an additional beauty to the garden. The fountain usually is operated during the weekends and also on Thursdays of every week.
This place also has other recreational facilities like boating and restaurant inside. Boating arrangements for the people inside is accessible in the huge pond located within the park. Varieties of fishes like the Grass Crap are found inside this big pond. A very nominal entrance fee is charged to the public for access to the park. Also they incorporate a direct bus service from within the city which leaves you at the desired location.

Nehru Park is located at the outlying end of Burnpur region. It is almost 14 km away from the Asansol railway station. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are easily available within Asansol/ Burnpur city that can be hired for a trip to the park and booked for a return trip as well. There is also big parking stand for two wheelers. Mini city buses travelling from Asansol to Riverside via Burnpur often picks up and drops visitors near the park entry gateway. But, from Asansol, there is a straight bus transportation facility that brings in the tourists to the park.

Satabdi Park is another significant tourist place of Asansol. The park is built-up in the year 1989 and preserved by the Indian Railways. It is located in the Grand Trunk Road of West Bengal.
Satabdi Park is basically a children’s amusement park that has a children's play area with lots of fun rides. It is also known as Sishu Satabdi Udhyan.

The park has a number of pleasure rides like the Caterpillar, Columbus and the See-saw. The walk-trails of the park, surrounded by well maintained lawns and blossoming plants add more beauty to the park’s luxuriant greenery. There are boating facilities as well, including paddle boating and boat rowing. There are also cafeterias and food stalls vending food, drinks and other refreshments to its visitors.
Satabdi Park and its Connectivity
Satabdi Park generally stays open during the mornings and evenings. This place is a decent abode to spend any special evenings with your family, kids and friends. Children will exclusively adore their visit to this amusement park. Cabs, taxis, auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws are available without any difficulty to the park from the railway station, as it is only about 2 kilometers away from it.
